Tips to relieve plantar fasciitis

#1. Rest

The bad news is, it can take time to heal the tears and inflammation in the foot. The good news is, we can improve the odds for a speedy recovery. 

Apply ice to the heel up to four times a day. This will help to reduce inflammation. 

Cut back on high impact sports, and avoid prolonged standing if possible.

#2. Stretching and Massage

Stretching and massage are great for reducing pain and aiding recovery. 

Massage the heel and arch of the foot. Or try placing a golf ball or tennis ball under the foot and roll it around for a gentle massage.

Another great option is to freeze a bottle of water, and roll it around under the foot… A two-in-one treatment!

Or try this excellent calf stretch…

  • Stand with the sore foot behind, heel on the ground, and the other foot in front, knee bent.

  • Gently lean forward to stretch the calf muscle, Achilles tendon, and foot muscles. 

  • Lean on a wall for support if needed.

  • Hold the stretch for 20 seconds.

And remember, CONSISTENCY is key!...


#3. Wear Good Shoes and Insoles

Caring for the feet throughout the day is key to relieving pain and preventing future problems..

Avoid high heels or flats, and get rid of any worn or uneven shoes.
